🔍 When is it ripe?
Ripe when fully coloured (white, red, or black by species) and falls at a touch. Spread a sheet and shake the branches. Extremely perishable — process or eat immediately.
There is also a nice grassy space next to the road where the berries are in easy reach. You can eat the berries directly from the tree or make jam with it. Ripe berries are black are fall off easily, so you can shake berries into a container. Your hands will probably get stained purple, but you can wash it off with soap.
