🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
A dozen crabapple trees in various degrees of health along a diagonal path across the hillside. Most of the crabs are too high to be reached without assistance.
Most of the apples appear to end up on the ground, but it is a public place so don't take more than you need.
