🔍 When is it ripe?
Green husk cracks and turns brown-black when ripe, exposing the shell. Shake branches — ripe nuts fall freely. Gloves essential. Cure in a single layer for 2 weeks before storage.
A large English or Persian Walnut tree. It is on private property but overhangs the sidewalk and the street. There is often several on the ground when it is in season. The branches are high enough that it would be difficult to collect the nuts without equipment.
