🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Not the tastiest pear, but there are lots of them. The tree is is the middle of someone's front yard, but most of the pears I gathered had rolled onto the sidewalk. A few bugs, but not so many that I couldn't avoid them and make a nice pie.
