🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
A plethora of blackberry bushes can be found in these woods and along the road going into this apartment/townhome complex. Best harvest is in late July. Quality/quantity of the fruit depends on conditions. Some years there is a lot of big fruit, sometimes lesser yield and smaller berries.
