Blueberry

Blueberry Private
🗓 Season: July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep blue-purple with a silvery bloom; stem scar (not stem) at the top. Taste is the best test — a truly ripe blueberry is sweet and has no pink flesh inside. Let the cluster go fully blue before picking the whole thing.
Owner (at 59 Greatwood Cres) normally picks fruit for himself. When he is too busy to pick he may allow others to harvest if they ask permission. When viewed from street - blueberry plants are located in a bed along the left side (i.e. the south side) of the house between the front corner of the house and the AC unit which is mid-way down the side of the house. There is a grassy side lawn between the blue berry bed and the owners property fence which can be used to access the blueberry plants for picking (avoid stepping in the bed which can damage the plant root systems) There are a few half-high and low-bush blue berry plants (5 total) that yield about 5kg of blue berries over the course of a month long harvest from early July to early August. If picked daily, yields per day average about 1 cup on average (higher at peak harvest and lower at start and tail end of harvest). There are also 3 small haskap plants on the same side of the house near the front corner (Haskap harvest time is late May to early June)
