🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
A little hard to reach even standing on the ledges, and I saw a handful of berries with rust. Worth another look if you pass by regularly on the way to the Metro.
