🔍 When is it ripe?
Large, yellow to pale orange. Heavy for its size; skin slightly smooth rather than puffy. Can hang on the tree for months once coloured. Taste is the best test — should be sweet-tart, not bitter.

Owner wants people to pick the grapefruit on their property, as they have too much and they wonder why no one picks it when they grow for that (but be sure to ask permission nonetheless if you really want to be on the safe side). Luckily the grapefruit overhangs the public side, so it's possible to get grapefruit without asking permission. They will also give out bagloads of it too. They heavily believe in foraging and providing food to the community. The fruit needs to be pretty large to pick it - 1/2 ft across, otherwise it's unripe.
