🔍 When is it ripe?
Ribbed, cherry-sized fruit turns from green → orange → red → deep burgundy-purple. Sweetest and least resinous when deepest purple-black. Very soft when ripe; falls at a touch. Short shelf life — eat within 24 hours.
A huuuugeeee surinam cherry hedge. It's kept quite neatly trimmed so you hav to look a little bit, but there's so much it hardly matters.
Different individuals in the hedge have wildly different levels of quality in fruit.
