elderberry

📍 Avoncliff, Bradford-on-Avon BA15, UK
elderberry Public
🗓 Season: August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Dark blue-black clusters when ripe. Cook thoroughly before eating — raw berries are mildly toxic. Ripe when all berries are dark and clusters hang downward.
Looking up the hill, to the left of where the stream meets the road, in front of an old tree - along the road, you will find many medicinals and edibles. Standing looking at this tree (see photo), I see: Elderberry, Mallow/malva, rose, stinging nettle, white dead nettle/Lamium album early and late blackberry, dandelion, Mugwort/artemesia, comfrey/Symphytum, broad plantain/plantago major
