🌳
Himalayan blackberry
📍 120 Hilow Ct, Los Gatos, CA 95032, USA
🗓 Season: July · August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Large, fully black berries. Same cues as common blackberry: comes free easily, no red core, dull rather than shiny. Vigorous canes — protect arms when harvesting.
in the wilder areas on the sides of the park. sometimes theyre trimmed by park staff if they get too big. last I was there, there were flowers, unripe fruit, and ripe fruit.
also: this is an invasive species (the native blackberries are Pacific Blackberries, not Himalayan) so don't spread the seeds. but make sure to eat them so the squirrels cant spread the seeds!!
