🗓 Season: June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Black raspberry: Deep purple-black, duller than blackberries. Separates from the hollow core like a red raspberry. Richer, more intense flavour than red raspberry. Short season — harvest daily.
Thimbleberry: Flat, dome-shaped, brilliant red berries. Very delicate — falls apart when fully ripe. Eat on the spot; does not travel. Ripe when uniformly red and separates without effort.
Berries fill the swath of cleared land marking the border between Canada and the United States at the trailhead to Depot Creek and the Chilliwacks.
