🔍 When is it ripe?
Skin turns from green to fully yellow; brown flecks ('sugar spots') signal peak sweetness. Harvest when yellow but firm; ripen at room temperature. Do not refrigerate unripe — turns skin black without ripening flesh.
There's a small, ripening bunch of little bananas on this tree that are overhanging the fence onto the footpath. As of 8/07/2013, they're probably ripe for eating!
(2021: this site has been redeveloped as a commercial site, so the bananas are long gone.)
