🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be fully ripe (very soft, almost jelly-like) before eating. Harvest after first frost or when naturally falling. Dark orange to purple when ready. Rich, caramel-sweet flavour.
Excellent Persimmon Stand. These are the dates of the north. So sweet just like dates. One of the best tasting fruits period.
Persimmon fruit is edible raw or cooked. They Ripen is Late September to Late October. They also Ripen very well if frost hit the fruit (Don't bother picking early you can't trigger the frost ripening effect using freezer).
Also remember these have seeds, so you can collect them to grow your own. Or you could also spit them out everywhere you go to plant more, Be the Johnny Apple Seed but for Persimmons.
The only problem is this may be a male or female tree and only female trees produce fruit so check. Remember if it's a male tree, just graft a female persimmon branch to it. It should work.
