🔍 When is it ripe?
Long, leathery pods turn from green to dark brown and dry on the tree. Ripe when completely dark brown, hard, and fragrant with a chocolate-like smell. Eat the pods (not the seeds) — naturally very sweet.
Very large carob tree next to the sidewalk, outside the fire station's fence. Climbing is not recommended; when pods are ripe, you'll find them on the ground in ample quantity.
