🔍 When is it ripe?
Purple varieties: skin wrinkles and turns deep purple. Yellow varieties: fully yellow and slightly heavy. Both are ripe when they fall freely. Wrinkled skin indicates riper, more aromatic flesh — not deterioration.
Vining plant, growing over the other meadow plants. Ripe when yellow green. Easy to positively ID due to flowers, and the abundance of zebra longwing butterflies (it's their nurse plant).
