Pomegranate

📍 10832 Mansfield Rd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, USA
Pomegranate Private but overhanging
🗓 Season: September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Skin turns from pale orange to deep red; fruit becomes angular and the blossom end flattens slightly as arils expand. Tap the skin — a ripe pomegranate sounds metallic. Heavy for its size. A slight crack at the shoulder is fine. Do not wait for it to fall.
These might be the parfianka variety. They're small, have purple arils, and tart. When the pomegranate is in season it overhangs the sidewalk. Some pomegranates fall onto the sidewalk. These are fine to grab - although there's likely not to be too many when this happens. Most of the year they will trim it back - but pomegranates have a season - so the plant does it on its own anyway. If you want any pomegranates that're on their side past the grass - ask them. Sometimes they say it's ok to pick some to people.
