🔍 When is it ripe?
Colour fully develops (purple, red, or yellow by variety) and a waxy bloom appears on the skin. Softens slightly at the tip. Taste-test for sweetness — European plums are better slightly soft; Japanese types can be harvested firmer.
Yellow plums. At the top of the steps. They were wonderful last year, but I must be too late for them this year. Trees are too tall to pick, so you've got to scrounge them fallen. Worth it if you're walking by or to collect seed for planting. Friendly cats about.
