🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Several apple trees line the edge of the lot along rt. 31. There is fairly heavy traffic here, so be aware. Trees were productive in 2012, and I canned several quarts of pie filling off of one tree.
