🌰
Black walnut
📍 1670 Indian Wood Cir, Maumee, OH 43537, USA
🗓 Season: September · October
🔍 When is it ripe?
Harvest when the green husk turns yellow-green and the nut falls naturally or can be shaken loose. Wear gloves — the husk stains permanently. Remove husk immediately, then cure nuts in a cool, airy place for 2–3 weeks before cracking. Intensely flavoured.

Some of the best fruit is higher up so you would need a picker on a pole or wait until they fall. Still on tree but ripe.
