Mint
🗓 Season: May · June · July · August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Harvest leaves just before flowering for peak flavour. Cut stems back by a third regularly to encourage bushy growth. Flavour declines after flowering — cut flower spikes off to extend harvest.
JCC has what looks like a children's garden in this location. Mint has taken over much of it, and is creeping outside the garden fence. Take a 4-5 inch piece of mint, strip off bottom leaves, place in moist soil (in pot or container). Will root and quickly grow you a whole new plant!
