🔍 When is it ripe?
Dark blue-black clusters when ripe. Cook thoroughly before eating — raw berries are mildly toxic. Ripe when all berries are dark and clusters hang downward.
A line of Elderberry bushes, along MM between Oregon Rd and Nine Springs Creek.
Depending on how wet it's been, you may have to press through some cattail (and muck) to get at the bushes.
Flowers Late May/Early June; Fruit ripe mid/late August.
