🔍 When is it ripe?
Blue-black berries in flat clusters; cook before eating. Ripe when uniformly dark blue-black and heavy. Also note: elderflowers in June are edible raw and excellent for cordial.
About 5 wild elderberries in margin of neighborhood accessible from road. Decent fruit yields but high seed to flesh ratio.
