European chestnuts: burs split on the tree in September–October. Collect from the ground daily. Cook before eating — roast, boil, or dry and grind. Score the flat side before roasting to prevent explosion.
This is a tree on private property and all chestnuts are annually harvested by the owners. They request that others Do Not harvest them. Please Do Not pull on tree limbs, pick pods from limbs or pick up nuts.
