🔍 When is it ripe?
Green skin turns slightly yellow and gives like a ripe avocado. Custard-like, mango-banana scented flesh inside. Falls at the slightest touch. Very short shelf life — refrigerate and eat within days. Found throughout eastern North America.
here is a patch of several pawpaw trees, one maybe 10 - 15 feet high, many younger trees (probably suckers from the older tree), lower to the ground only one to three feet high.
Didn't check thoroughly enough, but didn't notice any fruits on the trees July 2021 when I stopped and inspected for them.
